8  |  Super Mario Brothers 3 Review

I love my PS2. I was reminded again after two hours of twangy craptastic “Mario music” (Wow, has console sound came a long way!), and two very cramped hands. Thank God for ergonomics! Never have I appreciated them more than now. When is PS2 week?

It’s a good thing the game play is so good. I mean, it’s Super Mario Brothers 3! How could you go wrong? I love this game. Of all the Mario titles for the nes, this is by far my favorite. You get a tail, a frog suit, you can challenge player 2 and take their stuff. What more could you ask of a billion year old game? It kept me sitting for two hours and like I said, I’m not a fan. My wife on the other hand…

The second I plugged the controller she was on me. “I want to play after you die!” (As she hovered over me like some desert vulture.) We ended up playing for about two hours. I was amazed at how much of this game I actually remembered. And what I forgot, Jen was right there to correct. “No, fly up there!” (As she franticly pointed towards the top of the entertainment center somewhere.)

So, what do I think? You take an outdated console; add to that an outdated game, and you get two hours of family packed goodness. 8/10. Now let’s hope the aspirin un-cramps these hands soon. I hear Madden calling!
