Change mph to kph
:
At the Title Screen, hold X+Y+Z on controller 2, then press Start on controller 1. In the US version of the game, the speedometer will change to kilometers per hour, while in the Japanese version, the speedometer will change to miles per hour.

:

Hidden Message
:
First, start a race in the Advanced track in Saturn or Arcade mode. After the checkpoint and the tunnel, there is a right turn, followed by the road going downhill. Right at the top of that hill, stop. Then start down slowly, and words will come into focus in the grass: SegaAm2SegaAm2

Hidden Music
:
Earn a score that's high enough to put your initials on the High Score table. If you enter in specific initials, you will hear a familiar Sega tune play. There are 73 different excerpts of Sega sounds, hidden in 73 different sets of initials, such as Outrun, After Burner, and Alex Kidd.

Hidden Sign
:
First, start a race on the Advanced track in Saturn or Arcade mode. From the starting line, turn your car around and drive up the ramp you will see on your right. At the top of the ramp, in the back of the tunnel, you will see a sign that says: CONGRATULATIONS. You Just Lost Your Sponsors!

Jeffry Dance

Start a race on the Expert track, then drive up to the statue of Jeffry, and stop in front of him. Press X rapidly, and he will turn and stand on his head.

:

Maniac Mode
:
During the startup sequence, when the Sega logo appears on the screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, C. If done correctly, you should hear a chime and the letter 'M' will appear at the top left of the screen during a race.

Shortcut on Expert Track
:
In Saturn Mode, choose the green car, pink car, or horse. During the race, look for a large hill beside a mountain. Gain as much speed as possible, then race up and over the hill.

:
Select the Beginner track, then after you hear "Start your engines", hold C until about 2 seconds after you see your car; if done correctly, the engine will run silent. To turn on it back on, pause the game and then unpause it.

:
While nearing the slot machine on the Beginner track, tap X rapidly to stop the reels. Jackpots add extra seconds to the overall time: three 7s add seven seconds; three Bars add five seconds; and three Cherries add three seconds.
