Assassin's Creed 2 released today to widespread praise.
In Assassin's Creed 2, you play as Ezio Auditore da Firenze, a 15th Century Florentine nobleman that likes to fight. Unlike Assassin's Creed 1, you do not start as an assassin, but you're drawn into the world of the professional assassin. He's in over his head, and soon finds himself killing. As Ezio, you are a privileged young noble in Renaissance Italy who's been betrayed by the rival ruling families of Italy This betrayal has you seeking vengence.
Early on, it was hoped that Assassin's Creed 2 would include a playable demo of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Conviction (on the Xbox 360), which it does not. Even considering that, there's a huge contingent of reviewers giving Assassin's Creed 2 a 90% or better ranking. As of this writing, the MetaCritic ranking for the game is above 90%, and GameRanking's score has the game pushing the boundary of 90% pretty hard.
Assassin's Creed II has been in the works for over two years, and is developed by the original creative team behind the Assassin's Creed brand.
