Buy Saboteur
Electronic Arts laid off 200 Pandemic Studio employees this past week. Yes, Electronic Arts took their jobs, and yes, it was right before the holidays. But did they get everything?
Not everything. The employees of Pandemic took something. Pandemic Studios says good bye to their printer - used during the development of The Saboteur.
Officially, the studio is being "consolidated", which means that a few people will be transferred to other studios. The "Pandemic" brand may still exist past today, but any attachment that the name has to the people involved is essentially null and void. In fact, the founders of the studio have also been handed their walking papers.
So, in this video... Pandemic "consolidated" their printer with their bats, see?
During EA's earnings conference call earlier this month, EA announced a plan to narrow its product portfolio to provide greater focus on titles with higher margin opportunities.
This action will result in the closure of several facilities and a headcount reduction of approximately 1,500 positions, of which 1,300 are included in a restructuring plan. The majority of these actions will be completed by March 31, 2010. This plan will result in annual cost savings of at least $100 million and restructuring charges of $130 to $150 million.
EA remains committed to delivering high quality games for consumers and leading the industry in the growing digital direct gaming sector.
EA has announced that the reduction of 1,500 jobs will impact several studios.
