Now available in the Wii Shop Channel is Super Mario Kart, the classic Super Nintendo game.  The game is selling for $8 in Wii points (800 points).

When Stage Select's chick3_16 reviewed Super Mario Kart, he gave it a 10/10, saying:

Super Mario Kart I have to admit has it all. Compared to todays realistic racing games like GT3, Driver, and to a lesser extent GTA, Super Maro Kart is primitive. But Super Mario Kart is more than just driving. It's shooting turtle shells at your friends. It's avoiding the thwomps in Bowser's Castle. It's a great 2 player game. Overall, this is one SNES game that can truly say it has it all.

And best of all, it's purely fun. No story, no sense...no problem!

Pick from 8 racers (Mario, Luigi, Toad, Princess Toadstool (I refuse to call her Peach), Bowser, DK jr., Yoshi, and Koopa Troopa (I was sad to see him go in SMK64), then pick one of 15 (eventually 20) tracks, one of 2 (eventually 3) classes of Kart, pick your race (GP mode, single race time trial, head to head, or 2 player battle mode) and then pick your opponents off with a red turtle shell. 5 laps around the track, and the weapons are the coolest ever. Banana peels, shells, the invincible star, boos, lightning bolts, who wouldn't want one of these for their morning commute?

As for the gameplay itself, the controls feel great, the mode 7 is seamless so your Kart animation isn't choppy, the game is fun, and the challenge is everlasting. The tracks themselves are a mix between speedway, Bowser's castle, dirt tracks, and the railing free Rainbow Road (try doing it in under 1:33:00, I did it in a 150cc race with DK jr.). If you should fall (or drown), lakitu is always there to fish you out. He even gives you the service free if you can't pay (otherwise, 2 coins).

The meat of SMK is in the 2 player mode. Hours are spent here proving you are the original SMK badass on the track or in one of four battle arenas. SMK makes a great party game but is also fun to play solo for hours to hone your skills. If you're a SMB fan, and even if you're not, this game has everything you've ever wanted in a racer.

Don't forget, your kart can jump. Now THAT's Nintendo logic! 10/10, I can recall Final Fantasy games I've spent less time playing.
