Buy Sonic the Hedgehog
Sega announced today that their "Project Needlemouse" now has its official name: Sonic 4: Episode 1. The game's story picks up immediately after Sonic and Knuckles.
Sonic 4 will be a 2D platformer with 3D graphics, and will feature many of the same moves (spin dash, etc) that earlier 2D Sonic games had. The newest version of the game will also add a "homing attack" move. Additionally, players will be able to compete on worldwide leaderboards for fastest times through levels, etc. The Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will feature motion sensitive control elements, although Sega has not specified to what degree these elements will be present.
Sonic 4: Episode 1 will be made available as a downloadable title for the Sony PlayStation 3, the Microsoft Xbox 360, and the Nintendo Wii later this year. The world collectively holds its breath waiting to see if the new Sonic can live up to the expectations of die hard fans.
