E3 2010: Epic Mickey Preview Exclusively for the Nintendo Wii

Epic Mickey was another standout revealed at the Nintendo Press Conference on Tuesday, June 15th, 2010. Mickey’s highly-anticipated, new adventure, designed by Warren Spector and developed by Junction Point Studios, will be another exclusive game for the Wii console. Both Spector and Junction Point Studios worked in conjunction with The Walt Disney Company and Pixar in an effort to bring the beloved childhood character back into the spotlight.

“We want to make Mickey Mouse as big a hero in video games as he is in other media,” Spector remarked. “Mickey Mouse deserves no less.”

In the game, you play as Disney’s beloved icon with big ears and classic red shorts. In Epic Mickey the adventure begins as Mickey is swept up into the desolate and painted world of Cartoon Wasteland. In it, Mickey comes across lonesome and forgotten characters, such as the pirate Smee from the classic cartoon film Peter Pan.

Those who are fans of the parks will also find unique elements of somewhat ignored attractions, such as The Swiss Family Robinson Tree House and The Enchanted Tiki Room, located in the Adventure Land section of the monsterously popular theme parks. The new world Mickey is forced to explore is dark and mysterious, sending him on an adventure he, or we, have never experienced before.
