The Call of Duty Elite service is meant to provide gamers stat tracking, access to downloadable content, special perks for "Founders" of the service, and ways for gamers to connect together to play Modern Warfare 3.
The problem is, Activision's Call of Duty Elite service has not been online since the game's launch. The official Twitter feed for Call of Duty has this to say: "We’re having ELITE reg/login issues. Teams are working to increase capacity. Thanks for your patience. For info follow @CallofDutyELITE"
The issues are clearly related to capacity problems. The crushing rush of gamers eager to get started using Call of Duty Elite has meant that servers have been at maximum capacity since midnight. On the official Elite Status page (callofduty.com/elite/status), Beachhead Studios has posted the following:
"Registration requests for our new live service Call of Duty Elite are exceeding even our most optimistic expectations, which is creating a bottleneck and some players have not been able to register.
We have already registered hundreds of thousands of players and we are working around the clock to increase our capacity as quickly as possible."
The status update goes on to reassure users that the login issues they're currently experiencing won't affect stat tracking or other features of the service:
"Please be assured your gameplay data is safe and that whenever you successfully register for Call of Duty Elite, all of your data will be waiting for you. So enjoy the game, start ranking up and we assure you we are working around the clock to accommodate every player who wants to be a part of Call of Duty Elite as quickly as possible. We will update you frequently to keep you informed."
In Activision's latest update for the service, it's been announced that users will be given a free month Call of Duty: Elite service, and the deadline for registering as a founder through the site and / or Modern Warfare 3 has been extended:
And for our premium members who are Founders, know that granting your status and delivering your in-game benefits in MW3 is a priority. Also, to ensure that every premium member receives their full money’s worth, we are immediately and automatically extending your membership to Call of Duty Elite by 30 days at no additional cost. If you’re still considering becoming a premium member, we’re going to extend Founder eligibility until the end of the month, and you will also receive the additional 30 days of access.
Still, even given the amount of time that has passed, it doesn't seem as if Elite will get it's issues ironed out.
