Modern Warfare 2: The Dark Knight of Video Game Industry Sales (11/12/2009 6:50:29 PM) - Activision has publicly announced sales figures regarding the launch of Modern Warfare 2, their latest addition to the Call of Duty fps shooter series. The industry knew Modern Warfare 2 was going to be a big release, but just how big may have been unpredictable. Xbox Live Updates with Twitter and Facebook Apps November 17 (11/12/2009 5:03:49 PM) - Today Microsoft announced that the Xbox update which includes the Facebook and Last.fm applications will go live on November 17th.  The Xbox update which is going live on November the 17th includes High Definition movies from the Zune marketplace as well as Zune store integration.  The movies available will be in 1080p resolution. Project Natal Just $50 and Available in Fall 2010 (11/12/2009 2:30:23 AM) - British games magazine MCV reports that Project Natal may hit stores as soon as Fall 2010, and for as little as $50.  Not only that, but Project Natal may ship up to 5 million units, flooding the retail channel during next year's critical Holiday Season. Microsoft Bans Over 600,000 Xbox Live Accounts for Modding 360s (11/11/2009 10:52:36 PM) - Reports are surfacing today (first from Information Week) that Microsoft has banned as many as 600,000 to 1,000,000 of its users from Xbox Live.  According to statements recieved by Information Week, this is due to modding of the console to play copied games.  Microsoft said "All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty, and result in a ban from Xbox Live." Modern Warfare 2 Blocks Xbox Live Party Chat (11/2/2009 2:27:53 PM) - In an attempt to block cheaters, Infinity Ward will not allow Xbox Live Party Chat in Modern Warfare 2.  In fact, the option is very clear cut if you open a Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer mode while already in a chat scenario - Modern Warfare 2 will ask you to either quit your party chat, or quit the game. Modern Warfare 2 - Third Person View - New MP Modes Leaked (10/26/2009 11:32:12 PM) - An eight minute YouTube clip has left gamers puzzled.   The leaked Modern Warfare 2 video, which has been pulled from YouTube, showed a multiplayer match using a third person perspective, which has not previously been discussed.  Infinity Ward today clarified when and how 3rd player mode will be used in Modern Warfare 2. Facebook's New Layout Hides Game Updates (10/26/2009 4:08:06 PM) - Facebook seems to have reached Google status; it has become a verb in the English language. The Beatles: Rock Band Outsells Guitar Hero 5, Rock Band Releases on App Store (10/20/2009 10:53:25 AM) - The Beatles: Rock Band sold 595,000 units in September, according to the NPD group.  This is far less than anticipated, given that similar products likek Guitar Hero III sold 1.4 million units within the first six says of being on sale during October of 2007.  Still, this is a larger figure than either Rock Band or Rock Band 2.  Michael Pachter of Wedbush Morgan Securities had estimated that The Beatles: Rock Band would sell approximately 1.3 million units.  Similarly, EEDAR had estimated 1 million units.  . . .
