Xbox 360 Slim Features 4GB Memory, Under $200, Leaked By Amazon Germany (7/14/2010 1:55:18 PM) -   Amazon Germany has begun taking pre-orders for a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim configuration which more or less confirms Microsoft's earlier $199 Xbox Slim announcement.  For 149 Euros, you can get the Xbox Slim with a 4GB onboard drive, rather than a hard drive.  While this doesn't seem like much space, it will allow users to get online and download a few Xbox Live Arcade titles.  The bundle is set to release on August 20. Although Microsoft didn't permanently lower the price of the Xbox 360 during E3 2010, they ha . . .

Hulu Plus Requires PlayStation Plus and / or Xbox Live Gold (6/30/2010 12:19:33 PM) - The actual price of Hulu Plus looks to be about $13 a month, if you own a PlayStation 3 or an Xbox 360.  Both consoles require the premium version of their Networking services.  In the case of PlayStation Plus, you're adding $50 annually, and in the case of Xbox Live Gold, you're adding between $30 to $50, depending on the deal you can get (shop around!).  Part of the Hulu Plus web site code states "The instructions below will help you install Hulu Plus on your PS3. G4 Provides Heartbreaking Reports from BP Oil Spill (6/26/2010 3:34:43 PM) - I've watched Attack of the Show for years, and I've never seen a report quite like this.  G4, the cable game channel, is running a series of reports on Attack of the Show about the devistation in the Gulf of Mexico.  Kevin Pereira, usual funny man, has a very serious look at the effects of the oil spill, and drives the point home to both the viewers and directly to BP representatives. As unusual as it is to see a video game channel doing a bit of serious journalism, this piece is well done and captures the overwhelming . . .

Is Kinect $150, or Not? Microsoft "Estimates" Kinect Price (6/24/2010 1:02:25 AM) - While MS hasn't "officially" announced the Kinect price, they did set up for pre-orders in their own store!  In fine print, we're told that the Kinect price is estimated, because an official price has not been set.  With a half dozen or more retailers following Microsoft's lead with Kinect pre-orders, and with the pricing expectations that MS officials have unwittingly handed to the press, why are consumers being told that they're pre-ordering something with no "real" price?  We're sick of the back and . . .

Kinect Costs $149 – Several Retailers Begin Pre-Orders (6/22/2010 9:08:43 AM) - Microsoft sets the price for Kinect in its online store at $150.  Several retailers are now taking pre-orders for Kinect, also listing the price at $150 ($149.99).   Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and more are setting the same price, with games priced out at the (now) typical $60.  In a sad and funny move, Wal Mart will be selling connect for a full dollar fifty less than $150. We first learned of Kinect pricing from reliable sources that leaked information about the launch of Kinect even before E3 2010.  Sourc . . .

Kinect on Jimmy Fallon - I Want to Punch Everyone In This Video (6/22/2010 6:57:30 AM) - Kinect was on The Product Placement Hour (Jimmy Fallon) last night.  The man behind Kinect, Kudo Tsunoda, is a giant douche in my opinion, and shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a microphone.  He continued his reign of annoyance last night, as you'll soon witness.  The "best" part of the show was when Mr. Tsunoda first massively dissapointed the crowd, and eventually screwed over The Roots.  I'm not sure if I can forgive him for this one.  Watch starting at 1:32 where he pauses ever so slightly whe . . .

Classic Games Get Rebuilt and Re-imagined At E3 2010 (6/22/2010 6:36:14 AM) -   In case you missed it, the Electronic Entertainment Expo this year was simply dominated by remakes of classic arcade and console titles.  Console gamers will be treated to an avalanche of fantastic classic game remakes. NBA Jam - "OH MY!"  The arcade classic NBA Jam is coming soon for the Nintendo Wii.  It's an absolute blast to play, and really brings home the feel of the original.  NBA Jam brought the ferocious pace of the Arcade to home systems on the PlayStation, and n . . .

Xbox 360 Slim Shuts Down if Not Ventilated (6/22/2010 6:25:04 AM) -   A NeoGAF forum member just discovered that the Xbox 360 Slim will shut down to protect itself from damage if the unit is overheated.  The message that the machine gives before shutting down is "The Xbox 360 is shutting down to protect the console from insufficient ventilation. You can turn the console back on after the power light stops flashing." This is yet another indicator that Microsoft has really taken the "Red Ring" overheating situation seriously - the newest Xbox 360 protecting itself . . .

Crackdown 2 Demo: Earn Achievements For Retail Version (6/22/2010 4:45:59 AM) - If you play the Crackdown 2 demo, and later purchase the game, the achievements that you earn in the demo get unlocked instantly!  There are 10 achievements, each worth 10 gamer points. StageSelect.com had a chance to play the Crackdown 2 demo at E3 a few days before the demo was released to the public.  With the increased rate of gaining power ups, and the familiar Crackdown look and feel, Crackdown fans should eat this demo up.  Be warned though, if you didn't like the first Crackdown, well...  This one is more . . .

Nintendo 3DS Uses the DMP Pica200 Graphics Chip (6/21/2010 12:44:39 AM) -   Nintendo is using the 200 Mhz DMP Pica200 as the main GPU for the Nintendo 3DS.  Finding out which graphics processor powers the 3DS answers one of the fundamental questions that everyone has had about the 3DS since news of the system broke before E3 2010.  So, how powerful is the 3DS?  While Nintendo isn’t talking much about the horsepower behind the 3DS, it looks like their parts vendors have no problem talking about how powerful the GPU is for the system. The answer to that ques . . .

Video of Nintendo's 3DS (6/20/2010 11:26:32 PM) - Nintendo had several 3DS demos on the show floor of E3, in addition to the stage where (some?) people weren't allowed to film.  Here's some video of the 3DS below, taken from our own footage, and from footage from other peoples' sites. The following is the video that we filmed at E3 of the Nintendo 3DS.  Unfortunately, we weren't able to get as straight on of a shot as we would have liked, but you can definitely start to get an idea of how the 3D effects move on command. . . .

Some Apple iPhone 4 Orders Will Arrive June 24th (6/20/2010 5:54:43 PM) - If you were lucky enough to be in the first batch of pre-orders, Apple will get you your iPhone 4 on June 24th!  Some Apple customers are noting that their iPhone 4 orders have been marked as "ready for shipment", and others are getting shipped notices from Apple.  This is in stark contrast to the news out just two days ago about pre-orders for the iPhone 4. No one could have guessed the level of demand that the iPhone 4 would garner.  Earlier this week, many pre-order customers were told that it may be as la . . .

Facebook 2009 Income Was $800 Million - Video Arcade Application Launched (6/20/2010 1:32:00 PM) - Two sources told the New York Daily News that Facebook earned over $800 million last year.  Advertising provides Facebook with a large amount of money, however, Facebook also takes revenue from games and other applications as part of their application platform.  When people purchase "coins" for use in games, Facebook takes some of that money, and rev-shares with the application developer.  Disagreements over this ratio almost led to Zynga's Farmville leaving Facebook altogether.  While developers may not . . .

Kinect is Laggy, but Still Impressive - Hands on at E3 (6/20/2010 1:31:17 PM) - If you read one sentence today about Kinect for the Xbox 360, make it this one: Microsoft's version of motion control is simple to use and play, but is hamstrung by gameplay oddities and limitations, slight inaccuracies, and space requirements. This is Kinect in a nutshell.  It looks revolutionary, it's small and svelte, and for good or bad it performs exactly as you'd expect from a Microsoft product.  Not to put too fine a point on it, but I would describe most Microsoft products thusly:  "Good try, we'll . . .

iPhone 4 Rollout Delayed to July 14th (6/20/2010 1:30:14 PM) - No one could have guessed the level of demand that the newest iPhone, the iPhone 4, would garner.  Apparently, not even Apple could forsee the demand, and now they're forced to tell pre-order customers that they must wait until July 14th to get their iPhone 4 shipped out to them.  On Wednesday, Apple released a statement that they sold through 600,000 iPhone 4 devices, all through their pre-order processes.  This is despite some consumers complaining that the pre-order process wasn't working, mostly because of the larg . . .

3D Reigns E3 2010 with Rumors on Nintendo Next-Gen Console (6/20/2010 8:55:20 AM) - The E3 Expo is the game industry's biggest tradeshow and there is always a buzz surrounding new titles and tech. This year, the focus seems to shift strongly towards the 3D realm with companies like Nintendo emphasizing an interest in breaking boundaries with gadget-free technology while Sony and Microsoft try to gain ground with their own takes on motion control. That means Nintendo is the front-runner of the 3D tech this year as they unveiled the Nintendo 3DS portable console, which delivers a true 3D experience with . . .

Nintendo 3DS - Every Demo Detailed! (6/19/2010 12:30:48 PM) -   Nintendo's 3DS is the talk of the show here at E3 2010.  There's a line wrapped around the block to play a handful of titles on a raised platform in the back of the show floor.  I waited in line, so that you don't have to - here's detail about every single title that's either playable or viewable here at E3 2010.  Cameras were not allowed on stage at the Nintendo 3DS booth, so you'll forgive the lack of pictures.  I did take copious notes, however, and came away from the experience grinning like a . . .

The Babes of E3 2010 – Gallery Updates (6/19/2010 11:52:12 AM) - Every year the E3 Expo brings us hordes of sweaty, socially-crippled indivduals wearing cheap Hawaiian shirts and sandals. But amidst the nerdery, there are reasons to smile. We're once again refering to the models and talent that help promote the products and gear that we all shamelessly scavange for. Thanks to all of them for their kind nature and unparalleled ability to tolerate the creepiest among us. See our updated gallery dedicated to the . . .

PlayStation Move - Hands-On at E3 2010 (6/19/2010 11:42:58 AM) - Yesterday, StageSelect.com had a chance to get our hands on the Sony Move controller for the PlayStation 3.  The game that we spent the most time on was Time Crisis, an update on the classic arcade shooter. Almost immediately, you can feel the difference between the PlayStation Move and the Nintendo Wii Motion Plus.  When waving the Move controller around to move the cursor, there is less of a "laggy" feeling.  The cursor keeps up with your movements much more quickly than the Wii's controller.  . . .

Portal 2 is a Triumph at E3 2010 - Game Play Videos (6/18/2010 8:43:29 PM) - "I'm willing to put our differences behind us.  For science.  You monster." As you can see by the trailer below, GLaDOS is back in Portal 2, but I'm not sure about the cake.  As you'll see in the videos below, there are several worthy additions to Portal game play, notably a sidekick that helps you out (or at least provides comic relief), and several new play surfaces.  What do I mean by "play surfaces"?  Through each puzzle / room, there may be the opportunity to dump a subs . . .

Xbox 360 Slim Ships to Stores, Won't Red Ring On Failure (6/18/2010 6:09:55 PM) - The Xbox 360 Slim should start arriving in stores today, according to statements by Microsoft. StageSelect.com had a chance to play on the new Xbox 360 for several days of the Electronic Entertainment Expo.  I saw no troubles while I was playing with the system.  Although the convention center was quite loud, it's apparent that the system does not put out much noise, as even when I put my ear to the system, I didn't hear more than a whisper from the unit.  The system is said to run both quieter and cooler, . . .

Xbox Slim Hands On at E3 2010 (6/18/2010 2:44:10 AM) -  StageSelect.com had a chance to play on the new Xbox 360 for several days of the show.  I saw no troubles, certainly no red rings, while I was playing with the system.  I want to note that as of 2006, I have seen red ringed demo stations at E3.  While I cannot say with any certainty, I personallly believe that the Xbox Slim will have fewer errors than the current Xbox 360 which is on the market until stock runs out. The best deal on Xbox systems right now is either the current (discontinued) Arcade . . .

Nintendo 3DS - It works! Impressions from E3 2010 (6/17/2010 6:30:51 AM) - Nintendo's 3DS is easily the most alluring device of this year’s E3.  All day, show attendees were waiting for up to an hour and a half just to get their eyes on the 3DS for just a few minutes.   But what a fantastic few minutes they are.  While the 3D effect isn’t for everyone (some people experience eye strain), the effect is convincing, doesn’t require glasses, and can easily be switched off via a slider on the right hand side of the system. . . .

Back in action, Kirby is no longer the cute, pudgy little guy we all know and love. His 2-D world has been drastically altered. Kirby has journeyed from lands of full-bodied scenes and characters to a new realm of patchwork visuals and creatures. The game has been completely re-stitched, assemb . . .

Id's Rage - Exclusive Preview From E3 2010 (6/16/2010 10:33:40 AM) - At first brush, and perhaps second or third brush, Rage looks and feels like a mashup of Borderlands and Fallout 3.  In a closed-door preview session (no pictures allowed!), StageSelect.com was given the opportunity to check out Id's new Rage, and experience several typical game scenarios players will experience when the game releases. You may already be aware that Id invented the first-person genre.  What you may not realize is that Id has been one of the driving forces changing the genre for the past several years.  . . .

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Hands-On Report From E3 2010 (6/16/2010 9:02:51 AM) - The Nintendo Live press conference at E3 2010 started with the announcement Nintendo fans have been waiting for: a brand new Zelda. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is exclusive to the Nintendo Wii system. The showcase began with foggy visuals of Link in his past, spanning from Link riding Epona in Ocarina of Time all the way to the galloping wolf in Twilight Princess. A strange, visual mist parted to reveal the new, rejuvenated Link. He’s back and he’s got new hardware. . . .

Kinect Is Microsoft's Casual Market Play at E3 2010 (6/15/2010 5:44:31 PM) - First, there are some interesting facts about Kinect that you may not already know.  Did you know that Kinect can control the Xbox 360 with voice and gestures?  This was demonstrated at the E3 2010 press conference, and Zune integration was highlighted as a part of that demonstration.  Players will be able to tell the 360 which song / artist they want to listen to, and the system will pick that up and begin playing the selection. Additionally, Microsoft took some time to show a feature that has previously been announce . . .

Sony's PlayStation Move $50, Demonstrated at E3 2010 Press Conference (6/15/2010 5:36:43 PM) - Sony showed off the PlayStation Move at their E3 Press Conference today, announced pricing and availability, and some exclusives for their motion controller. The PlayStation Move system consists of the PlayStation Eye camera, the Move controller, and the subcontroller, both of which light up on top (hence the big colored ball on top). Sony showed how precise the controller is, and they brought folks from Farsight Studios to talk about the controller's precision during a video presentation.  Interestingly, they're really touting . . .
